The Opportunity

A defining appointment for a fellowship-qualified medical leader.

The LCLHN treats the most complex case-mix of any regional population in South Australia. With close to 70% self-sufficiency, it is regarded as the only mini-metro of the state’s regional networks — clinical complexity without metropolitan friction.

Since March 2024 the network has enjoyed stable executive medical leadership. The next EDMS inherits a talented team of 14, a successfully delivered Phase 1 workforce plan, a matured Clinical and Care Governance Framework, and a research trajectory pointed at 2031.

This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer and works collaboratively with the Chief Clinical Advisor, sitting on the LCLHN Leadership Team.

Portfolio

Three portfolios, one clinical vision.

01

Medical Workforce

Lead a 14-person medical administration team executing a five-year hub-and-spoke workforce plan. Interns have quadrupled (3 → 12), with ~20 RMOs, ~10 registrars, and 10 new specialist appointments; deep partnership with Flinders University Rural Medical Program.

02

Quality, Risk & Safety

Following a comprehensive external clinical governance review, the QRS portfolio has transitioned to the Executive Director of Nursing & Midwifery. The EDMS continues to steward medical governance, credentialing and scope of practice across the network.

03

Clinical Research

Direct the Limestone Coast Clinical Research Unit and a five-year strategy toward a research-focused network by 2031: Phase 2–4 trials, clinical audits, and a standalone Research Governance Committee aligned to the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework.
